69Atlantic: A hidden theater of magic in the heart of Brooklyn

At first glance, 69Atlantic looks like a beautifully curated curiosity shop – home to playing cards, puzzles, and tactile wonders from Art of Play. But beyond the shelves, hidden behind the walls, lies a 26-seat theater that transforms into a world of mystery each week.

Founded by magician brothers Dan and Dave Buck – pioneers of cardistry and sleight of hand – the space opened its doors in October 2024. Since then, it’s become a sanctuary for magic lovers, hosting weekly performances from some of the world’s best magicians, as well as a monthly speaker series for poets, designers and creatives.

“Most guests don’t expect there to be a full theater beneath the shop,” says Hal Schulman, Theater Manager at 69Atlantic. “But once the lights dim and the smoke begins to drift across the room, the ordinary transforms into something extraordinary.”
